Micheal's Story
Well where do I start.... During high school I work for the local WT Grants. This is where I received my management training in the food service industry. I really enjoyed working in the restaurant and Hotel business and spent the next 25 years trying to work my way up the ladder.
I spent 7 years at La Costa C.C. starting as a Bar back then a bartender and finally was promoted to Beverage manager.
I left in 79' and became the Operations manager for a semi-private resort in LA called Industry hills C.C. only stayed for 2 years when all the top management (except for me) was being investigated by the FBI. A lot of people went to jail, I was just interviewed to talk about the people in question. After that I became an Assistant Food and Director for a private club/hotel owned by the Hugh's corporation called the Marina City Club.
During my time at La Costa, Industry Hills and the Marina City Club, I hung out with quite a few popular actors, escorted Ronald Regan from our heliport to a private campaign fund raiser at Industry Hills, almost had a date with Stevie Nicks (this was at La Costa C.C.) I'll tell you at the reunion) I was the private bartender for Frank Fitzsimmons when he stayed at La Costa, ( the teamster boss after Hoffa disappeared) and did some undercover work for the DEA -I know this sounds unbelievable ... but it's true.
I have been married 4 times and have 3 children wh...Expand for more
o were all were doing well until the economy went south. I also have 2 beautiful step daughters and 5 grandchildren.( all my wives hated the Hotel & restaurant industry). I moved to St. Louis, Mo. for a couple of years as a food and beverage director for a Radisson Hotel. Move back to California in 1987. Left the restaurant and Hotel business and got into sales. I stayed with this company for 16 years selling food service equipment and supplies. Taught myself how to use Auto-Cad on the computer and begin designing Night Clubs in San Diego . I never went to school to learn to be an architect but some how ended up working with some local firms. I specialized in Kitchen's and Night Club service areas, (behind the bar), I guess it was just the right fit for me at the time. If you are familiar with downtown San Diego, I helped design the "Thin Room" and the night club in Hyatt Regency hotel in La Jolla , this was a remodel.
Well now I'm in New Mexico still in sales with another company making good money. My current Wife and I own a Window covering business called Ready Blinds, Oddly enough , we are looking to re-locate back to San Diego. I guess we just miss all our kids and grand kids whom all live in out there. We are selling the business here and plan on opening a new place somewhere in Mira Mesa.
Well that's it in a nut shell -a lot more to tell but it would take several pages to fill.
