Profile
Hi to all,
After graduating high school, I went to Northeastern University in Boston and majored in Recreation Education. You're now probably saying to yourself, what is recreation education. Yes, there is a major. While attending college, I developed a passion for New England and the Boston Red Sox and still do today. A little difficult to do living in this area, but following the Red Sox is worth it.
I graduated and moved back to NJ. Then I started working as a Recreation Therapist in an area hospital on a Psychiatric Unit. I started the program and when I look back, it amazes me that I did that. While working, I went back to college to receive my Master in Recreation from Fairliegh Dickinson University. I also became active in the state professional organizations. Which was fun and exciting and enabled me to meet many great people. In 1989, I switched jobs and started working as a Recreation Therapist at Essex Co...Expand for more
unty Hopsital Center, Cedar Grove, NJ. I realized that the benefits at a county facility were valuable and a good move profesionally. I am now the Chief of Therapeutic Services Department. Therapeutic Services includes art, music and recreation therapy along with vocational rehabilitaion and substance abuse services. Essex is a 180 bed psychiatric facility. Work is always an interesting place. In 1995, I became an Adjunct Professor at Montclair State University, teaching a variety of courses at the University in Therapeutic Recreation. Then in 2004, I changed colleges and I am Adjuncting classes in TR at Kean University in Union, NJ in the Recreation and Leisure Department. I really like working with students. They are so much fun.
Personally, I was married for 31 years to Martin. In July 2012, he died, to to a long illness. Right now, it's a little rough, but I'm ok. Love to hear from my former classmates and co-workers.
