Michelle's Story
After Lafollette I went to MATC with the intention of transferring to a funeral directing school. I continued to work at Wendy's as a manager while going to school part time, but then decided I'd had enough abuse and quit. I did a stint selling furniture and then took a job raising athymic nude laboratory mice. I started asking questions and it was then that I realized my true passion for science. areer. 10years ago I realized I was almost dead and needed to do something about it. So I found recovery, got sober, went back to school and ultimately got a job at Covance which is where I am now. I'm very fortunate that an associate degree got me a job I truly love. I had planned on continuing with school to the point of achieving a Masters degree in biotechnology. But with my age I decided having a baby was more urgent. So my wife and I had a baby boy in 2004. I discovered being a mom is the best job (don't tell anyone,) so now we have a baby girl too. Life is good:)
