Michelle's Story
Life
Hello from Washington! Shane Albright and I got married back on June 16, 1990. We started dating the end of our Junior year at WHS. I received my degree in Elementary Education from UAA in 1996. We moved to the lower 48 after the ten year reunion. By August 1997 we had made our way to Portland Oregon. Upon arriving in Portland we found out we were expecting our first child after trying for seven years. Robert Shane was born in April of 1998. August 2000, Robby got a little baby brother named Joshua James. We finished our family with our last baby, AnneMarie Jordan in January 2003. We bought a house in Vancouver, Washington in April 2003. Shane works as a Sr. PC/LAN Engineer for the HMO, Kaiser Permanante. He is in charge of the servers for their Center for Health Research. I am a stay at home mom and a business owner. I just opened my own shop in Vancouver called Once Upon A Tea where I sell costumes, tea dresses and miniture tea sets. Our main focus is hosting Dress-up Tea Parties for little girls as well as ladies. Life is going really well for Shane and I. We would love to reconnect with anyone if you are in our area.
Update: I sold my business and started substitute teaching January 2007.
School

Too many crushes to list!! Favorite teachers were Mr. Bahr and Mrs. Lawton. The teachers that were the most inspiring were Mr. Sellers and Mr. Woods. I think I would do High School again, I had a good time. Knowing what I know now, I would not be that shy. I really had a hard time stepping out of my comfort zone to meet new people. It wasn't until I was a senior that I started getting to know my classmates and that year went so fast!
College
My first year at UAA was not very productive. I started th...Expand for more
e spring semester and did okay. The next fall was way too much fun. I was cheering for basketball, worked two jobs, carrying 16 credits, lived in an apartment with two girlfriends that I partied with Friday through Sunday and dated two guys off and on. Shane and another guy that was a G.I at Fort Rich were the winners who put up with my indecisiveness. Luckily I realized the error of my ways and hooked back up with Shane and we have been together since. Unfortunately I quit cheering and UAA a week before finals without withdrawing. After Shane and I got married in 1990 I went back to school to get my degree in education. I spent the first two semesters retaking classes that I failed because I walked away. I managed to do really well graduating with a 3.48 despite those F's and becoming very involved with clubs and student government. I graduated with many honors and was proud that I went back and finished.
Workplace
I really can't say that I have had too many jobs. I started working at McDonalds in Wasilla the Spring of our senior year and stayed with them for a couple of years. I worked up to swing manager and to secretary for the owners, during my first year in college.
I then got a job at Alaska USA FCU and worked there for a number of years.I worked there when Shane and I got married and then through my years back at UAA. They were great to me and helped me find jobs that fit into my ever changing schedule of classes and practicum.
Once I graduated from UAA I worked for Anchorage School District, substituting until our move to the lower 48.
My next major job has been full time wife and mom. I was a youth leader for a year and half at my church which was a lot of fun. To help myself feel fullfilled and challenged I did various home-based businesses where I spent more money than I ever made.
Now I am back to substitute teaching and hoping for a full time job in the Fall of 2007
