My family moved from Hankinson, ND to Burbank, CA in September of 1964. I started 7th grade at Luther Burbank immediately, and graduated from Luther in June of 1967. I started high school at John Burroughs in September of 1967. I was supposed to be in the graduatiing class of 1970, but my Mother became ill in late 1967. We found out a few months later that her cancer was terminal. I decided to drop out of school at the start of my Junior year to spend as much time with her as I could. In September of 1969, I returned to school, 6 months after my Mom died. Because of the time that I had missed, I couldn't graduate with the Class of 1970. But I did graduate with the Class of 1971. After graduation, I worked for several places in Burbank: Lakeside Cleaners 1970-1972, Pacific Southwest Airlines (PSA) 1972-1976, Surety Savings & Loan 1976-1978, and then I finally went to work at Lockheed in 1978. I worked for Lockheed in Burbank until they closed the plant in 1990. After 6 months on layoff, Lockheed relocated me to their facility in Marietta, GA.
