Michelle's Story
Twenty years go by so fast and what to say about it?
After graduation I went to Nebraska to attend college at Creighton University. I loved it there and having Jesuit Priests as professors wasn't so bad either. After graduation, I moved back to Minnesota and started working at Piper Jaffray. After five years, I left the company, started working for American Express Financial Advisors (now known as Ameriprise Financial) and have been there ever since.
I currently lead a marketing communications team that promotes internal programs franchise advisors can enroll in to help grow their financial planning practices. I also provide much of the Compliance supervision required due to working in such a regulated industry. One of my majors in college was Communications. I can actually say I'm doing what I went to college for.
Besides working for Ameriprise Financial, my Mom and I have a home staging business. We work with Realtors and/or home owners...Expand for more
to get the house ready for sale. It's a creative outlet for me and helps relieve stress resulting from my full-time job.
As you may have seen from the photos I've included I was married in 2004. My husband and I also built a house that year while we were planning our wedding. Two big events like this at the same time are not a smart thing to do (Good thing we didn't know what we didn't know at the time). We got married at the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis and still attend mass there on a regular basis. We also enjoy volunteering our time at the Basilica by participating in several opportunties between the two of us.
Life is good. The last 20 years have been a time of learning and growth. In 2000, I dealth with the death of my Dad. I was with him the night he died and now look at this as one of the biggests gifts he ever gave to me. His passing helped teach me what's really important and this is why I'll be at the reunion.
