Michelle's Story

Life Hey Everyone, Wow...30 years gone by!! I remember so many great things about high school: spirit days, assemblies, football games, chamber chorale, plays, Farrell's Ice Cream Parlour, tennis class, track, backpacking class, biology with Mr. Tierney and Mr. Stookey. Great friends, great teachers. * I still remember an assembly where a classmate (I think her name was Pam Hill) dressed like a Genie and did some crazy dance. Anyone remember the streakers? I think that stunt is etched in my mind forever. And then there were a few food fights in the cafeteria that were pretty wild. I remember looking up at the cafeteria ceiling every now and then and counting the jello cubes stuck up there. There was also the time I got talked into spending the night at the Irvington Cemetery to look for the White witch. I don't think she was there...but I sure wish they had made "Depends" that night. The goofiest thing I ever did was in the 9th grade. There was some guy that ran track that I thought was the cutest thing I had ever seen....so one day during his track practice I decided to practice running along side him. I was so busy watching him that my hair flew into my face, I fell face down in the dirt, and the last thing I remember was watching him run past me without offering to pick me up. I've still got the scar on my knee!! I've been married for 26 years to Tabb Clements. We met in college, dated 3 days, got engaged and married 3 months later. We have 6 great kids (all adopted)ages 4, 6, 8, 10, 17, 21. Our oldest just returned from a two year church mission to Russia and was married in June of 2005. I put a photo from the wedding under the "then" photos. I finished my nursing degree and I'm working in a Neonatal Intensive Care unit in Raleigh. There's lots of things I love to...Expand for more
do. One of my favorite interests is singing. For several years I've sung with the North Carolina Master Chorale. That has been an incredible experience. We perform in a concert hall with the North Carolina symphony. Each year I have to reaudition which gets more frightening (not less). On my life list of goals I want to complete my Master's degree in Nursing, go on a cruise to Alaska, see Canada, and see all of my children graduated from college and happily married. On my list of habits to break....peanut M&M's.....gotta stop eating those things. Just a little info about where I live... North Carolina has alot of pine forests and lakes. It's only 20 minutes from our home to the nearest lake. The kids are all pyromaniacs, so as long as we have a good fire going, they're happy to be in the woods. Our home in Raleigh sits in the middle of a forest - 70 pine trees on our property. We've had our share of hurricanes...the pine trees will bend in half, but not break. But during the ice storms the trees break with little effort. Last year we had an ice storm that caused a massive traffic nightmare. It took me 11 1/2 hours to go 8 miles. All the children in the city were trapped at school or in buses that had slid off the road. Pretty scary for everyone. A few years ago, we even had a tornado touch down directly across from our house. Life can be exciting in Raleigh!! Last year, I went back to Fremont to visit. So different, but many places still the same. I miss the hometown feel. North Carolina is like Fremont used to be...not quite as packed with people. I hope all of my classmates from Irvington are healthy and happy. Life moves so fast, but I still remember the many great friends and teachers at Irvington. Send me an email. I'd love to hear how you're doing. Michelle
