Mike's Story
Life
Over the years IÂve lived in Miami (twice) and Fort Lauderdale, both work related. I had quite a long European stint a few years back. I call Orlando, Florida my home. It allows me to do everything I could imagine. After being away from time to time, itÂs always a good feeling to return to FL. ThatÂs when you know youÂre home. It's like vaca all the time. I do get to NJ a few times a year to spend time with my family and friends with whom I still keep in contact. Ironically, IÂve maintained the same friendships most of my life. My brothers included.
I own my own Design Company. I say ÂDesign company because itÂs quite varied. Graphic, some internet, advertisementÂ
everything inspired by the Euro trends and the fashion moguls I worked for. (And of course Mrs. Cazzola and Ms. Rose - HS ArtÂ
probably the only thing besides my horses that motivated me back then) I also design stages and stage sets set for concerts, shows, and several recording artists who shall remain nameless. Name dropping is so... 5 years ago. LOL. I got involved in set design and production after performing on quite a few ugly stagesÂ
I opened my mouth, as I tend to do, and here I am now. I still work for Universal Orlando but on a very different level. I work in entertainment every once in while for a seasonal run of a show. I ÂFah Who For Azed through Whoville in the Grinch who stole ChristmasÂ
I was Simon Scowell in Universal Mardi Gras Idol and brutally tortured guests who gave their BAD talents to receive a 10 cent strand of beadsÂ
Good Times! I was recently a production supervisor for the Ellen Degeneres Show taped here in April. IÂm currently in the early stages of opening another business, one that will afford me the paycheck with minimal involvement. Minimal invlovement, ItÂs a stretch for me. I am designing the space, though. Maybe IÂll write a movie, maybe IÂll go on tourÂ
or anything else I havenÂt tried. (giving birth is not an option). ThatÂs about it for now. IÂd love to hear from some old friends and/or enemies. NO grudges here.
If you go this far, take care! MJB
IÂm working on the picture thing!
I seem to be one of the few who has actually filled this thing out. and god forbid.. posted a picture...I hope more do... Does it get me off the hook if I dont make the reunion? :)
College
After ...Expand for more
high school I attended Cook College at Rutgers University, living up to my equine upbringing. After 2.5 years at Rutgers I headed south to attend the University of Central Florida. I dove right in to the school activities and athletics, something I had not done at HS South or Rutgers. I joined the Elite UCF Cheerleaders (itÂs a Southern thing- equally as prestigious as being on the football team down here) and enjoyed every minute of my UCF experience. A pride filled moment > In April 2007, I, Myself and a few alumni cheerleaders, had the opportunity to coach a few practices to prepare the team to become the 2007 National Champions! Go nights!!
Rutgers memories: Jeff, Al, Mike = JAM! Sabrina, asleep in her dirty laundry between the bed and her wall. Horseshows, WiLL I win? I probaly did but you couldnt count on it. I've gotten over that stage fright. Nancy .. Lets eat til we puke. Sharon beating me with the pot.. And Shirly Wedgycat and I, Rob Burr, scamming the system.
UCf memories: Did someone order a birthday stripper? Too many to count.
Workplace
IÂm not sure you can call it that but, hey, I get paid. Most of my work history is entertainment based with a few blips here and there. Modeling, dancing, acting, singing, voice over, RAPPINGÂ
. yeah, who writes those songs? It took me forever to learn one song, I still have no idea what I was saying, but I will never forget the words! Fortunately, my work has taken me all over the world on many occasions, many of which IÂve been able to share with friends and family. Greece, England, France, Italy, Spain, Holland, Germany, AustriaÂ
. You get the point. Many years back, I had set a personal goal, I would try to see as much of the US and the world as I could. I think IÂve done pretty well so far. ÂIf you donÂt do it, then you havenÂt done it.Â
I worked for Calvin Klein (NYC) for 7 years remotely here in FL, a great job that afforded me the opportunity to travel at a whim if I was called to do a show. I also worked for Gucci (NYC) remotely in Miami. I had the amazing experience of working on the design team that designed all the merchandising for the retail stores at UniversalÂs Islands of Adventure. Seeing a theme park of that magnitude constructed from the ground up was quite inspiring. My work was also carried over seas to Universal Japan and Spain.
