Claudia Boozer:  

Life I was Claudia Ricker (now Claudia Boozer) and very quiet and shy in school. I got my Cosmetology license and worked in Greeneville as a Cosmetologist from 1970-73. That's how I met my husband - I did his mother's hair. He asked me to marry him on our 1st date (9/20/72). I accepted via an overseas phone call from Spain in 12/72. We were married on 2/4/73 and had been married 36 years before his passing away on 3/20/09. He had suffered for 19 years with multiple sclerosis & many complications from it. I sure do miss him, & it's hard to believe he's gone. He was a wonderful husband & dad to our son, Brian, who is now 34 yrs. old. I retired in 6/06 so I could be with him during his many admissions to hospitals & nursing facilities and at home. I learned many nursing skills, which helped to keep him at home as much as possible, & home is where he wanted to be. He had been home since 8/08 before his passing. We moved to Va. Bch. in '73 due to Mike being in the Navy and have been here since then. I have become a more outgoing person than I was in school. I guess marriage, moving away from home, and wkg. with the public has had a lot to do with that. I worked for the City of Norfolk for 28 yrs. and 8 months. I was an Admin. Secretary for the Norfolk Police Dept. over 13 yrs. & worked for the Internal Affairs Div. and the Strategic Mgmt. Div. Prior to that, I wk'd at the Norfolk Scope Cultural & Convention Ctr. for 15 yrs. Mike got out of the Navy on disability after 12 1/2 yrs. We traveled some until my he became unable to do so. Our son is wonderful, and we are so thankful for him. He plays the drums, does recording, mixing, and mastering music for bands. He also djs some, plays drums for the band Session Rockers, and promotes some shows at the Jewish Mother. He recently won the Reggae Promoter of the Year for Va. Bch. I'm so proud of him.
