Mike's Story
Hi, let me start by saying I did not graduate from Bend High School, but went Freshman year to Cascade Jr. High and Soph year to Bend, and am curious to find out what has happened to some of the people that I knew there.
My dad moved to Medford for work, and I went one year to St. Mary's in Medford, and my Senior year Phoenix (Oregon) High School.
I don't have a lot of memories of Bend High School, but two are:
1) Going up on Pilot Butte (with one un-named co-conspirator) before the home coming game in 74, and putting up road flares in the shape of a giant 76. Then, just before half-time, we went up and lit them off, and scurried back up to the car, and just got off t...Expand for more

2) I came to appreciate after I left Bend High what an outstanding Math department it had. I was in an advanced math class that was team taught by several top notch math teachers. When I went to St. Mary's, they did not have a math class as high as that, so I did independent study in math. What a let down compared to the year before. Then, my senior year, Phoenix High's highest math class was trig, which I had just gone through myself, and elected to take that class instead of another year of self study.
In college, I was a math major, and I credit a lot of my success to the year of advanced math at Bend.
