Mike's Story
I got married to the girl I dated my senior year (Cindi from East Meck) right out of high school. We were married for 11 years and had 2 beautiful daughters (both nurses now). Moved to Union County in '74 and drove a truck for a few years to see the country. Started singing on weekends in California when laid over there (nothing better to do) and realized I had a passion for it. Started falling asleep driving (not too good) so got into the printing business in '78. The preacher at the church next door to my work got me back in church and I got invited to sing with a gospel group. Have been singing both in a group and some solo work ever since. Remarried in '82. Had my own printing business in Indian Trail for 10 years (Call Printing still bears my name there). one that ever since. Had a cooking show on Time Warner Cable for 2 years and wrote a 30 Minute Cookbook along with my wife Terry.
My parents moved in with me in '96, mother had Alzheimers and she died in '04. Lost an older brother and sister within 6 months. Went through a bad head funk and divorced the next year after building a house in Waxhaw. My 86 year old Dad lives with me now. Remarried June '06 (third time is the charm). Have 2 granddaughters (2 years and 9 months). I've been leading music in churches for 12 years. Now I'm at Back to Bethel Baptist in Monroe going on 5 years. Play golf every chance I get. Usually during the week. It's not crowded and the rates are much better. Would love to see a 69-71 reunion. Those were the folks I associated with the most. Love to hear from old friends.
Life is good any day this side of the flower garden.
