I grew up in the old Newsome Park (the white houses) in the 60's. I went to Newsome Park School up to the sixth grade then went to Carver Elementary. Those early morning bus rides to school was exciting. I enjoyed seeing the high school band on the field in front practicing wearing the old blue and gold. I didnt think I was noticed much at all in those days. I wasnt athletic or popular with the girls, rather I was short, shy, and smart. I loved to draw and seemed like I was going to be an artist. In high school at George Washington Carver, I was the little brother of Fredrena Easter. She sang in a singing group (the Persian Deltas) with the Person sisters.
