Mike's Story
Life
I've retired from a career as a newspaper editor, reporter and columnist. My duty stations included New Orleans, Pensacola, the Monterey area of California, Reno, Nevada, and Washington, D.C. I'm now in Las Vegas working for a Nevada member of the U.S. House of Representatives, an odd change of career since as a newsman I frequently threw rocks at Congressmen. My Congressman is likely to run for governor next year, and though he hasn't declared his candidacy, he's already considered the front-runner. My duties here include handling military, nuclear(Yucca Mountain), homeland security and veterans issues in the state, plus, predicatably, media relations.

Because the Nevada Legislature will still be in session, Mary will not be able to join me at the reunion. But I'm under orders to eat seafood for both of us while I'm there. My golf game is lousy, but having terrorized the Navy's A.C. Read on my bicycle when I was a kid, I'm looking forward to terrorizing it again as an adult wielding a golf club.
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion and catching up on your lives, and I'm extremely grateful to our classmates who organized this event not just once, but twice.
