I've been living in Bangkok, Thailand now for 5 years with my wife, Tuk. We recently bought a condo in the Huay Kwang district near her work. We also have property in the northeastern part of the country near the border with Laos that's planted in rubber and eucalyptus trees (harvested for paper). We are building a house there next year and putting in a grove of mango and banana trees. I still work on ships 4-6 months of the year, sailing out of the union hall in San Francisco (a really long commute!). There's been a lot of government contract work in recent years delivering military equipment to Kuwait. I've been working lately on an ammunition ship running between Korea and Japan and also container ships running from the west coast of the US to northern China (bringing tens of thousands of tons of containerized crap destined for Walmart). Sailing is still fun for now, but I'm slowly making the transition to a more land-based lifestyle. I work part-time as a divemaster in Pattaya, Thailand when I'm at home.
