I was in fifth grade and Sister Bride was my teacher. Not "Bride of Frankenstein" really, but tough enough. So on this spring lunch period I blew my allowance on baseball cards and shoved the stale slates of gum in my mouth. I produced a ball of gum two-thirds the size of a golf ball. rl with a big BROWN NOSE to raise her hand and ask Sister if she might've forgotten, though. But THAT girl was quiet. There is hope. Then it hit me. Doomed. Guilt by association. But it was funny, too. This big round blob on the window. Giggles with cold sweat. Sort of the sweet and sour of emotions. I poked my friend next to me and pointed. It became more funny. Then Sister Bride began moving towards us. The gum, magically, dropped. Divine intervention once again. Thank you God, for getting me here.".
