Mike's Story
Normally I would be at the drop zone jumping out of airplanes, but due to the COVID virus, not only myself but the whole world is pretty much grounded. We moved near downtown Lee's Summit to be near the shopping and amenities just 7 months before the shut down in March 2020 so like everyone else, I'm stuck at home watching TV, assembling jigsaw puzzles, and playing with the dogs. I still play piano and am a half-assed boogie and blues player. As I'm entering this, I notice the large size of the font and I wonder if it is the same for everyone or just those of us who graduated in a certain year. I've reached out to a few of our old classmates in the last couple of years to see about reconnecting, but it was not reciprocated...now I'm taking it personally and it's giving me a complex.
I have to say my life so far has bee...Expand for more
n pretty uneventful...After high school I did 4 years in the navy (ran into Charlie Farris and Jerry Jones in San Diego during that time). Then it was too many years of sex, drugs, and rock and roll. I'm still single and no children...I was too wild and crazy to consider that commitment. I eventually got it together and worked as an RF Engineer for various telecom companies. I tried to retire a few years ago but discovered I couldn't afford it (my girlfriend has horses) so I have been working at various positions here in Lee's Summit to supplement social security.
In light of the virus and the complete insanity of a certain party in the government, keep your heads down, your helmet on and MASK UP.
On a side note, I am probably one of the few who has both parents still living. Mom is 97 and dad is 96...how cool is that!
