Mike's Story
...after graduating I went to ARC. In 1971 I dropped a class because it conflicted with my work schedule. I lost my college deferment but wasn't worried about it until I won the draft lottery, #4. I manged to get in the Air Force Reserves and hated it. i continued on with college. Two years later I transferred to the Army National Guard and hated it even more. I moved to San Diego to go to San Diego State to take some solar classes. I decided to go overseas and work on Solar/Wind projects. I turned most everything into the National Guard, gave them an address in Copenhagen, sold everything, and bought a one way ticket with a friend from Encina. We were gone a year and a half traveling through Europe and parts of the Middle East. I worked on ...Expand for more
solar and wind projects here and there. I returned and started putting myself through school studying engineering at CSUS. By the time I graduated seven years later the janitor thought I was a Professor. I installed residential and commercial solar systems until I graduated and Reagan canceled the tax credits. I went to work for Aerojet for years. Then the cold war ended and I went to work for UC Davis Medical Center as a Senior Engineer. I have been the Principal Engineer since 1997. Sometimes it's more exciting than I would like it to be.
I decided in the mid 70's not to have children. I'm compensating for large families. I've continued to travel throughout the years to most continents. I'm looking forward to seeing everybody. ..-Mike
