Mike's Story
Life
I've been married twice. My first marriage gave me a daughter and step-daughter who have blessed me with four wonderful grandchildren.
My second wife and I were together for 18 years, and have recently separated.
I became a Christian in 1984. I've been a teacher and Worship leader in churches.
Over the years, I've had entirely too many jobs. But a few years ago, I found my passion. I worked for Hattie Larlham Community Living. I managed two group homes, one with a young man with traumatic brain injury, and the other with three young men with profound mental retardation. It was demanding work, lots of hours, challenges, and blessings. I cherished the opportunity to have a positive influence on these people's lives.
I still play guitar, though I outgrew the club/bar bands and the lifestyle that went with it. I did a lot of foolish things as a young musician.
I have, in recent years, become serious about pursuing my passion for writing. I've written all my life. Now I'm doing something with it. I have completed my first...Expand for more
book, and am in the process of getting it published. It's called "More Than Songs ". I'm writing my next book, "Leaven of the Pharisees". These are Chritian books, but I also write short stories in science fiction, horror, humor (at least I hope they're funny). Currently, I have some of my stuff posted on writing.com/authors/mikemattice. Check it out! Also, I have sold two articles on AssociatedContent.com, and have written some articles on Helium.com and Faithwriters.com. I teach writing on writing.com.
Also, I compete in pool tournaments, and sometimes win. I was the Kent State billiards champion for three years.
I often think about many of the people I went to school with, and would love to be in contact. If we've had any reunions, I never heard about them. I'm still relatively local, living in Ravenna, Ohio (Portage County). If anybody remembers me, let me just say that God changes people. I'm not who I used to be.
Classmates will not permit me to list my email address, so I would recommend that you Google "Mike Mattice".
