Mike's Story

Life After high school, I found myself gazing into the depths of a cold black night. I stood on the beach and contemplated the immensity of the Atlantic Ocean. I listened to the wind as it rushed over the waves. It seemed to follow the path created by the shimmering light cast by the moon. The wind suddenly glided across my face, curved around my neck and tobogganed down my back. Thoughtlessly it released it's icy fingers into my spine and it felt like cold darts shooting through my body, reaching to every extremity before exiting like tiny bolts of electricity, causing my entire body to shiver. I became mesmerized as the waves gently planted kisses onto the moonlit seashore and then quietly retreated into the night. It occurred to me that the peace of the ocean was similar to the peace of a sleeping lion. I knew at any moment the power of the now sleeping ocean could suddenly be unleashed into a mighty wave of energy - a towering wall of water with enough power to indifferently level...Expand for more
any thing unfortunate enough to be in it's path. But, it continued to roll peacefully -quietly -yet with more confidence than I will ever know or understand. Gently it glided over the billion grains of sand, examining each one. It seemed to be waiting -patiently waiting for just the right moment to reveal its awesome power. So I waited. I knew that something evil was about to escape from the icy depths. Its time had come and it would soon arrive. I had been chosen to confront the evil. So I continued to stare and wait. My mind began to be carried away on the breeze, back to a time before the fear arrived. Then... Galuubb… Galuubb… Giant air bubbles began to belch upon the surface of the ocean. What appeared to be smoke began to emerge from the bubbles. It was some sort of force -the manifestation of a dark and evil spirit. It was pure evil. I suddenly felt sick to my stomach and began to vomit. Every evil thought that I ever had seemed to come back into my mind at once…...
