Mike's Story
Open book--love my family and friends--HMF (Having More Fun)--experiencing new things--and making memorable memories with people with real soul
I was so fortunate to attend Covina High School, where I was in a great class and am still friends with several of them. I have great teachers, like Mr. Long, Bryan and DeGanaro. Coach Sooter had more influence on me off the court than on. Although winning 28 straight games was very special. I put on three golf reunions for all basketball players and the memorial for Coach when he passed almost three years ago.
With friends and family, I enjoy good food and wine or traveling. I have done a lot of all of the above.
I was fortunate to win a fellowship for graduate school, at USC, and find my passion in real estate development. While the current environment is not conducive to new development, I have been an advisor to corporations and financial institutions on the use or reuse of their real estate assets, since I left college. I am most proud of working on the development of Reston Town Center, in suburban Washington D. C., which won an Urban Land Institute Award of Excellence. I am also proud of developing Howard Hughes Center for Arden Realty, in West Los Angeles. This project inc...Expand for more

With the exception of living next to Lake Michigan in Chicago, I have spent the rest of my life living as close to the ocean as possible. I love it!!
I have traveled to all but two states, which has been a great way to learn about our country. I was working on a project for two years, during Watergate, which was incredible. I love traveling in Europe and Asia.
My wife, Ananya, a chef, photographer and gardner par excellence, is from Thailand. We have twin 14 year old sons, Khing and Kha. They are great--good students, very athletic and active in Boy Scouts. My oldest son Brian, an attorney, and his family live in Napa. I have a seven year old grand daughter and a two year old son. I love being "grandpa." My son, Greg, is a CPA, lives in Santa Barbara.
I have been blessed to have many mentors, lead by Coach Sooter and Coach Wooden. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Coach Sooter, because we had so much fun doing things together and I learned so much about life from him.
I love to play golf, ski, fly fish, scuba, listen to jazz, enjoy good food and wine, travel and experience contemporary art.
