Mike's Story

Life I have 5 beautiful children...two boys, then three girls. I very much enjoy coaching all of my children in any sport or endeavor. I often coach my two boys at indoor/outdoor soccer, wrestling, and help them with baseball and football when asked. I have also coached my youngest daughter Grace in basketball, indoor soccer, and softball. I have assisted in coaching on Lauren's softball and soccer teams as well. Needless to say, I love coaching them ALL because I know I can teach them proper technique, mental preparation, the rules of the game, and most importantly good sportsmanship! I also love watching my daughter Cassandra dance in competitions for Northwest Productions. I am more suited to provide my loving support as a father and spectator than trying to coach Cassandra in dance!! :-) Every weekend I play competitive adult indoor soccer at Soccer City. We are always in the upper most (Premier) bracket due to the skills of the other players on the team. Those that I have the privilege of playing with have proven themselves at the collegiate level. A couple of friends of mine put the team together and we will typically either win the league or come close....we mostly win though. The team is filled with great people and I really enjoy being on the team and spending time with all of them. The kids love going up to Soccer City as well. They are either running around on the soccer field with friends, spending our money at the concession stand, or buying rubber bouncing balls, stick-on tattoos or what ever else they can find that takes coins! I am finally divorced. The 13 years of my marriage was the most emotionally and mentally draining of all my year...Expand for more
s on this planet. But, this separation has given my children and I a much needed breather from the almost daily onslaught of negative events, actions, emotions and/or comments. There is no doubt that parenting can be draining at times. But there is equally no doubt that there is nothing better on this earth than seeing the successes of each of your children...knowing that you brought them here, and at some point you had at least a hand in molding, directing or creating their success(es). We were together for 13 years, and managed to produce five beautiful children. And for that I must find a way to someday thank her! I do sincerely wish her luck in her new life, and hope she is able to someday see life differently for herself, and most importantly, her five children! Because of the separation I am definitely happier, thus making it much easier to focus strictly on the needs of each of the children. Hopefully, someday she (my X) will understand these two things: - we are only here once, and - parenting is a PRIVILEGE, not a right! Again, I do sincerely wish her luck in her new life. I also hope she someday is able to see life differently! Virtual diplomas on my wall: (1)Take your time; and (2) choose your friends and spouse(s) wisely" Workplace I am an IT Systems Analyst for the Department of Biomedical Enginering at the University of Cincinnati. I currently hold several IS certifications and am now (2007) working toward several Information Systems (IS) Security certifications. They are Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Systems Security Certified Professional (SSCP), Microsoft's MCSE, and finally CCNA/CCNP.
