Mike's Story
Life
Graduated from Pitt in 2000. Now work in Marketing for Black & Decker. I live in Las Vegas (money, baby!) and will be here probably until the end of 2002. No plans to settle here permanently...Nice place to visit, don't want to set up shop here. Don't know exactly where the corporate ladder will lead. Started traveling in college. Have been to Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, Ecuador, Guatemala, and Panama. I've also been to Mt. Chestnut, Chicora, West Sunbury, and Saxonburg (which are all exotic in their own way, I guess.) Not alot else to report, but if anything happens (like me winning $10 million on that big slot machine at Bally's) I'll be sure to let you all know!
UPDATE 6/2004--
Well, lo and behold I am still living in the desert and still loving it despite no gambling fortune to speak of. I am still with Black & Decker and am progressing through this corporate rat race nicely. I became engaged in August 2003 and will be getting married October 9, 2004. I will be three-quarters of the way ...Expand for more
to being a grown up then having the wife, house, and dogs taken care of but still needing the kids to round everything else out.
College
Started at Virginia Tech in 1995. Assumed that "out-of-state" meant better school. Figured that out in quick order and came back to Pitt for 1996. Did a semester in Australia at Bond University (Surfers Paradise, Queensland) in 1999. Graduated from Pitt in 2000 with a BS in Business Administration majoring in finance and marketing. Someday I will get the MBA, but it will have to be after I leave Vegas. Nothing against UNLV, but their Business school doesn't exactly scream "prestigious" at me...
Workplace
After college I was hired as a Field Marketing Representative for Black & Decker's DeWalt Industrial Power Tool line. I progressed into a sales role with a different division of B&D (Kwikset/Price Pfister) and called exclusively on Home Depot stores in Nevada, Arizona, and Utah. I am currently the Operations Manager for the DeWalt Service Center in Las Vegas.
