Mike's Story
After graduation, completed my BS and MS in Geology (hydrology and glacial geology) at Ohio State, Worked for 5 seasons in Antarctica, 2 in Greenland, a summer in Peru and many seasons in Alaska and Wyoming. Received my PhD from University of North Dakota while working with the US Geological Survey. Stayed with USGS for about 20 years, working in North Dakota, South Dakota, North Carolina and Nevada. Center in Portland Oregon, and oversee the Snow Survey and Water Suppky Forecasting Program across the West and Alaska. Married to Carissa and have 3 children (10, 12, and 13). Active runner and working on completing marathons in all 50 States (still a ways to go). Volunteer firefighter (was chief of a department when in Nevada) and EMT. Also a personal fitness trainer and work with people on fitness and nutrition programs. Enjoy bike racing, hiking and camping with family, anything outdoors.
