Mike's Story
This comes straight off of my Facebook page:
I take it this where I get to editorialize myself! They say that hindsight is 20/20; well, I cannot say that I would like to relive most of my life over. I've been to a number of places on this planet, but I have to agree with Dorothy in that "there's no place like home."
I have had the privilege, as my father and his before him, etc... of having served my nation voluntarily in both war and peace. I am able to say without hesitation just as President John F. Kennedy said, "Any man who may be asked in this century, what he did to make his life worthwhile, can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction, "I served in the United States Navy."
My life beyond naval service has had its share of triumphs and tragedies, having crested the highest summits and descended into the lowest valleys. My life has been blessed with three daughters, one adopted and two of my own, whom I constant...Expand for more
ly beam proudly over. Witnessing the births of my biological children marks one of the few occasions in which I have been brought to tears. It is with much regret that I acknowledge having failed miserably in two marriages. I strive to be an active part of my daughters' lives inasmuch as I am allowed--oh, how I so miss being able to see them on a daily basis.
Although it took me nearly twenty years beyond high school, I finally completed my BA in History with a minor in Anthropology in late 2007--Hooyah! I liked Augusta State University so much that I decided to work there beyond graduation. Although there have been some recent upheavals at ASU, it sure beats, in my mind, the uncertainty of the private sector.
I am grateful for my faith in God--he has delivered my undeserving person on many an occasion.
Remember folks, as Red Green says, "If the ladies don't find you handsome, at least they'll find you handy!"
--God Bless!
