Mike's Story
Life
After High School I continued doing nothing for a few years. Well that is I went skiing a good bit and was a grocery clerk at Lucky's. My youngest just graduated from HS - if he only knew dad never did homework! Oh well, secrets are a necessity of life I suppose. After something of an epiphany, I enrolled at West Valley. After a couple of years I transferred to Cal and got a degree in Physics. I left CA in 1986 for Fort Worth TX to work in the defense industry, where I met my wife. We have two boys. fun. We started an engineering company in 1996 which now has offices around the country and overseas. Been lucky. I live on the Florida pan handle near Destin.
I am trying to balance working with not. Mostly not. I lead backpacking trips for the Sierra Club several times a year and volunteer as an EMT at the local hospital ED.
All these years later, I occasionally dream that I never graduated. I guess I can admit it was essentially a gift now. Thanks again Coach Augenstien and Mr. Dazols-- It was my teenage tragedy and I needed a break. It all worked out in the end. September/2014
