Michael's Story
A very brief history. . . .
Left KC for the University of Missouri at Columbia in 1972. Graduated with a Bachelor of Journalism in 1975, continuing to play music with the band traveling on the road until 1977.
Opened my first restaurant and nighclub in 1979 in Columbia - TW Chumley's with 19 investors, a real experience. Parlayed that into a job selling U.S. beef in Saudi Arabia in 1981 to help pay off taxes. Returned to the States in 1985, working and living in Michigan, Kentucky, Texas and Ohio before landing in Philadelphia in 1990, exporti...Expand for more
ng beef to the Middle East.
Moved to Colorado in 1991, then to Delaware in 1993, continuing to grow the export business with employers. Finally collected enough financing to start the business on my own in late 2000. Got entangled in an ugly employment lawsuit costing over $1 million in legal fees, but eventually prevailed in 2005.
I have continued to operate my export food business based north of Baltimore, while raising a family including daughter Shealey born in 1999 and son Gunnar born in 2001.
Lots of bumps. Overall, life has been good.
