Mike's Story
Life
I currently live in Austin, Texas. This truly is the best place in the US to live. I work for Apple still (nearly 14 years and counting) and having recently moved back to the US this April (2007) for a job. I'd been living in Cork Ireland with my lovely and kick ass wife last year (having been travelling to Ireland over the last few years regularly).
I am enjoying hunting down old friends and folks I've had the pleasure of working with, and reconnecting with folks from the past. Its fascinating to see the variety of directions different lives have gone in the last 10, and in some cases nearly 20 years.

Workplace
I've been around the high tech industry forever pretty much. I started as an admin assistant working temporary at Apple in Houston and ended up making friends with some incredible mentors...Expand for more
. That experience alone got me interested in -doing something- with hi-tech.
After that I worked for an Apple Education Dealer in Austin for a while and when Apple opened their support site in Austin, easily got an entry level job there. Having experience with Macs and education, I started with folks providing support for K-12 schools. I've been involved with technology in education for a while now, circling around it in some roles at Apple but now sqaurely back into it as a Education Systems Engineer.
Since starting at Apple 14 years ago, I've had the privilege of working in many different areas including direct customer support, Tier 2 dealer support, Field systems engineer (sales), Training developer/delivery, instructional designer, manager of a team of trainers, project manager, etc.
I like the variety and it gives a lot of interesting experience with understanding how a very unique company works (which really reflects onto many other companies and industries as well I think).
