Mike's Story
The last I saw most of you was at our 20 year reunion. I was married to a wonderful woman by the name of Bobbie. We had a daughter (Tiffany born on the 13 of March 1988 (8 days before my 40th). She is now 22 and the best thing I have ever done. She is now married, living in London and expecting her 1st child (a boy) in December. Bobbie unfortunatly passed away from cancer in 1998. I recently decided to retire but still work part time. I have worked for NHRA for the past 15 years and have had the opportuity to see much of the country with them. I remarried for the last time in 2002 and we (Debbie & I) are living in Vancouver, Washington.
I have lived in the Northwest since leaving Cottage Grove. Originally in Eugene/Springfield, then Roseburg, then back to Eugene, Portland, Spokane and now back in Vancouver....Expand for more
I spent most of my working life in the auto industry. First in the parts business and then in the wholesale tire and wheel business. Have been everything from a warehouse person, to an outside sales person, to a store manager and eventually ran multiple stores. After Bobbie passed I did a really dumb thing and became a laborer in the construction business. Not terrible normal for a 50 year old person. Turned out to be a lot of fun and the pension I earned has allowed me to retire. So I guess alls well that ends well.
I certainly have not had a normal or easy time of things but am not sure I would trade any of the experiences I've had for anything. The only thing missing is reconnecting with the people that I had so much fun with during my school years in good old Cottage Grove. So I hope to hear from you
