School
I was really involved in high school. Cheerleader, class rep at "Girls' State" (Sacramento), NHS, CHS, Swim Team, Band, Orchestra, and a few other clubs. I was pretty much a loner, though. Spent a lot of time into music (piano and could play most woodwind instruments) and crafts (sewing especially). Now play the guitar!
I don't know if any one remembers my father, but he was the security guard at San G. high school. He was the HUGE, mean-looking (but really sweet) black man whose nick-name was "Bull Dog".
What I remember MOST (besides having lots of FUN!!) was trying to ditch class, and always getting caught--I wasn't very good at sneaking around. It was like there were 100 of him--one at every corner of every building!!
I sometimes think that he was there j...Expand for more
ust to spy on me! (pretty self-centered thinking, huh?) ;) It was a real bummer and a great embarrassment--but funny when I look back at it.
I can laugh at it now knowing that my father probably kept me from making a lot of mistakes back then....mistakes I saved for college ;)
College
College memories include STARVING and STUGGLING--both physically and spiritually. There's definitely some truth to the name "Starving Students".
My early twenties were a time of "finding" who I was and trying to make sense of why we do what we do and what was my purpose in life. I seemed to be a "STUDENT" for way too long and made sooooo many mistakes and did lots of CRAZY and WILD things. Thank GOD we grow up!!!!!
In spite of the struggles and awful college memories, my college years have best prepared me for anything that could possibly impact my life--I hope!!
Workplace
I've tried a few professions but have found that the best for me was one that impacted lives "one person at a time"....the beauty industry. I've continued with the Hair business for about 26+ years and now own an exclusive --one chair--salon (in my home) outside of Seattle.
However---the BEST JOB OF ALL--being a mom!!!!!!!!
Military
I was a military brat--dad was retired Air Force. Lots of travel around the world and settled in Highland CA when I was 13. Still love the idea of military/disciplined living. My kids think I'm the meanest mom in the world--but don't they all think that if you're doing what's right for them???
