Lori's Story
Life after graduation was busy busy. As promised, I got married right away to John, my high school sweetheart from the rival PHS (which was attended by many of my MCHS friends). We immediately moved to Northern California where John was stationed in the Air Force. From there we went to Riverside, Guam, and Arkansas. During that time, we added three kids to our lives, who are now 28, 26 and 20. I decided to make something of myself when we were living in Arkansas (because there wasn't anything else to do there!) and pursued a career in nursing. After John got out of the military after 13 years (following a medical discharge because of two blown knees), we moved to Oregon where we remain. I decided then that I wanted more out of my career and went on to pursue a Masters in Nursing and became a Family Nurse Practitioner. I have since become a business owner and run my own medical clinic as a primary care provider in Central Oregon. In Oregon I can function independent of a physician so have gone it alone. I can do everything a doctor can do for the most part (minus surgery) so have been successful in being very busy. I love it, but some days more than others.

y gave us our share of headaches and heartaches while growing up but I think it was worth the gray hairs. We have two grandkids now and figure it may be some time before we see any more. Our oldest just attended his 10 year high school reunion as our 30th was happening. How can that be to have a kid so old???
Looking back at high school I could never believe then what I have accomplished in my life. I was always the introvert, so "not confident" in myself, and now if I stop long enough to think about what I have done and what I am doing every day I get a little overwhelmed and maybe even a little nauseous. John and I are able to finally relax more in life. The kids have grown and moved out and in their place we have acquired dogs, 4 pit bulls, which have become our new children. This makes vacation hard but we try to go at least once a year just to retain our sanity.
To those who doubted our marriage would last back then because we were so young, here we are.... celebrating 30 years in November. It's been a ride but a great one and I would do it all over again if given the choice. I have been able to have my cake and though it wasn't right away, I have been able to eat it too!
