Miriam's Story
Life
I currently reside in Nashville, Tennessee and have been here for nearly 15 of the 19 years I have lived in the South. I am divorced and a single mother to my 10 year old daughter (Mecca). I also have an adult son (Jadrien) who is 25 years old.
I got married a couple of years after graduating from high school, became a Medical Assistant and over the years, have held various jobs in the Health Care field. In 1996, I earned an Associates Degree in Technical Writing and Editing and started a career in the real estate (appraisal) business which lasted for ten years. I decided to return to college last fall to get my Bachelor's degree. I am enrolled at Middle Tennessee State University (senior year-full time) pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice Administration. rite poetry and I have poems published in two anthologies. I am working to complete the last of a set of poems that I hope to publish in a book of poetry written solely by me.
The majority of my relatives still live up north in Philly and Willingboro, NJ. My parents live here in Nashville and so do both of my brothers. I'd be very happy if my sister would move here. She still lives in Willingboro. My best friends from school, Lisa Neal (Holland) and Tonja Atwater (Johnson) came to visit me back in April. We had a ball! It took them forever to get here but it was well worth the wait! My other best friend Angela Crockett and I have been in touch over the years, and even more so this past month.
