Miriam's Story
I currently live in Las Cruces, New Mexico where my husband and I both taught at New Mexico State University. I retired in fall 2020 as Dean of the Conroy Honors College. I am an anthropologist and my work has had the added bonus of allowing me to live in interesting places -- we've lived for long periods in Kenya and the Philippines, and I've worked in many parts of Africa and Southeast Asia. Despite the discomforts of modern air travel, we still love to travel for recreation.

hoenix has always been the place to "come home" to no matter where in the world we lived. We spent 20+ years in the cold wilds of western Pennsylvania, and having Phoenix as a respite in the dead of winter was truly a salvation from the relentlessness of winter. I am so happy to be back in the southwest where the skies are big and blue and the people much more cheerful and friendly. So much has changed in Phoenix that it is almost unrecognizable, and I haven't kept in touch with many Arcadia friends, so I'm looking forward to the reunion to reconnect with people.
