Put aside all your misconceptions of a computer geek. I work with computers, I enjoy working on computers, and I love playing computer games. But luckily there is so much more to me than that.
I grew up all over, my natural father (John) was in the Army and my (step)father was in the Marine Corps. John spent the majority (9 years) of my childhood in germany so my summers were spent in Europe. This, I believe, is why I like to travel. In 2003 my wife and I went to Hawaii for 2 weeks (I got my first tattoo there) and just this year we went to the UK (mainly Ireland and Whales). Thinking Japan next and then Australia, mmmm.
So I got married the first time in August of 1992 to the devil (ok not really)and seperated 18 months later and divorced another 17 months after that. I joined the Marine Corps in 1992 for a 6 year tour, thanks to military cut backs by our government at that time I was discharged after only 2.
I came to Tucson in 1994 for 2 month visit, and I have been here ever since. I remarried in Sept of 1996 to my wonderful wife. I have trained in martial arts for almost 9 years and I am now an...Expand for more
instructor and with a 3rd degree black belt (a black belt just means you know the art, 5th degree is when you are now considered good at the art). I also am licensed firearms instructor for personal safety and protection. I also teach women's self defense, military close quarter combat, close quarter battle and weapons training to the military. One of the classes I taught was for officers being deployed to Iraq, many of which had never fired a handgun before .
When time permits I also volunteer as an Assistant Scoutmaster for the Boyscouts. I find this very enjoyable, not just because of all the camping and such but because I enjoy helping and really like kids, also I am really just a big kid myself. (Aren't we all?)
After Highschool I never went to any formal educational institute for anything. If I wanted to know something I taught myself. For example, one year my father-in-law gave us a computer (pentium 486 66) and I got hooked. So eventually I decided to work with computers, the first computer tech job I applied for I asked what I needed to to know to work there. I bought a book and was hired the next week. My last job was at law firm as an IT systems engineer.
