Mitzi's Story
Life
Have been living in Fl since graduation. Went to College of Charleston, and Graduated from Univ of Fl in 1985. Am married, own several businesses of my own:Import /Export Heavy Equipt to South America, Construction/R.E.. Thoroughly enjoyed 25th...happy to have taken part in organization...thanks to H.B.!!! Looking forward to 30th..... Hubby was very impressed by gratuity! We have since been made shareholders of very successful, "Family-Owned" Heavy Construction Co.--currently involved in a Joint-Venture Project, with Martha Stewart. Hubby responsible for recent growth of Co.! Very proud of him!!! He recently acquired his G.C. license here, and did impressively well!!! I have become more involved in the sales of our Industrial/Commercial Properties...a TRUE learning experience, dealing with all of the Municipalities!!!! Quite the challenge, re-zoning, platting, permitting, etc.!!! Loving it!!!!
Looking forward to 30th....!!!!
School
I attended College of Charleston 1981-82. I later attended University of Florida, 83-85, earning a B.A. in English/minor Spanish/Psych.. Finally, I attended the Art Institute of Florida, earning a A.A. in Marketing (later,an M.B.A.), which ultimately gave me the the knowlege/confidence to start my own Corporation.
Several years later, I met my husband of almost 10 yrs... . We started our own Import-Export Co., which later became a ...Expand for more
part of my "Family-Owned" business: 'Westwind Contracting". We have since become, one of the most prominent "Heavy Construction" companies, in Fla....with 4 offices....thanks to hubby, too!!!!
Currently, very happy in: Business, life, and love...wish the same for ya'll!!!!!
Workplace
I would like volunteer more, as it is REWARDING emotionally; however, not financially. I volunteered at a radio station reading for the Blind/Hearing-Impaired. It was "AWESOME", as I had "Creative Ability"; however, it occupied my down-time, and made me feel as if I was "unavailable to service my clients". It is a challenge that I would recommend to anyone who is confused in life..once you see those less fortunate; your path in life (perhaps),will have been changed forever!!!!
Ironically (as of recent), I have been caring for my 42 yr.old, Autistic brother...on a part-time basis..... . In my wildest dreams, I would have NEVER been able to FATHOM my daily rewards from this duty-I love him more each day!!!!
As a result of our daily communication; he has become: more vocal, conversational, and humorous!!! I couldn't have asked for more!!!!! I am now spending time and interacting with other handicapped clients, and am trying to be creative with the things I do with them, during my allotted time. I must say, I feel like a more useful person having had this opportunity!!!
