Molly's Story

Life So basically, i'm deployed right now in Kuwait for the Army. Luckily, I'm with my hubby, Scott. We both work in the same building 12 hours a day for 6 days a week and one day off a week. I usually go to the pool. On work days we work out tons. I guess I won't be able to come to the class reunion, since I'll still be here. I would've loved to have come though. We have 55 days left in country and then I get to go home. Thank god! Its time to leave and I want to get on with my civilian life and career. Hope to hear from you! School Well, I think it is obvious that I went to Luverne High School, in Minnesota. I was involved in theater, music, choir and cheerleading. Outside of school I was involved in Piano and dance. The only person I really stay in touch with is Kay Smook...she's a true friend. My other friends were Krista Hemme and anyone in theater. I had some people that I hung out with, Rachel Wynia, Jana, Hillary, Charissa were on the Boys Basketball Cheerleading team with me...and they were all a lot of fun to hang with. Most of the time I couldn't wait to leave high school...but there were a lot of good memories, and I only wish the best for everyone. College After graduation I attended the University of Iowa, in Iowa City, IA. I graduated in May 2001 with a Bachelors in Communication Studies...not sure what that was for though. I got my MBA (Masters in Business Administration) in August 2004. That was pretty great and what an achievement. I realized that I really could have studied harder as an undergrad! I just finished my Grad cert in Project Management. It was very interesting, but I think I'm done with school. Military I joined the National Guard when I was in my senior...Expand for more
year of high school and went to Basic Training in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo the day of graduation. After Basic I went to College and began talking to the recruiters for ROTC. The next summer I went to Advanced Individual Training in Fort Jackson, SC. After that I took a 3 year scholarship with ROTC and begun training to be an officer. I love ROTC, it was so much fun, and so many new things to learn. I met great friends and traveled to some interesting places. The summer after my sophomore year I went to train with the British Cadets in London and Scotland. We toured the city, trained for two weeks and had a blast! We drank a lot and I learned a lot of new things. Fired some weapons and had some fun. There were only 14 cadets from the states that went. The next summer I went to Advanced Camp for ROTC and South Korea for 3 weeks. Um...again I drank a lot there and trained a lot and went to Itaewon (hooker hill) its not what you think! There are a lot of bars and dance clubs on the hill unfortunately a lot of unmentionable ladies too! Well, I went to college and finished my degree and commission and in 2001 became a 2LT in the Air Defense Artillery. I went to Officer Basic Course and met Scott. Finished that and then went to 1-1 ADA and became a Platoon Leader. I was a PL till 2003 and I deployed to the first war with my launcher Platoon. Then we redeployed and I became the executive officer for D/1-1. That was the best job, my commander was awesome and so were my peers. Then I went to be the Battalion Adjutant and I liked that for the first half and hated for the last. Oh well. That was my last job until I joined the reserves and well, guess where that landed me...in Kuwait! Getting out after this!
