Harold's Story
Life
It is very hard to believe that it has been almost 40 years since I walked in the doors of MAHS. I guess this holiday season made me a bit nostalgic for the old elephant and what truly was the best high school on the face of the earth. After having raised two teenagers - a son and a daughter - I have always felt kind of sorry for them that there was so much dumb stuff going on at their schools. I truly loved just about everything at the that Munich school - even the German version of cafeteria food.
Anyway I left Munich in 1972 just before the Olympics - finished high school here in Virginia. Went to the University of Virginia and majored in Political Science. I graduated in 1977 - went into the Marines as a communications officer and got out as a captain in 1984.
I spent the next 20 years in the consumer electronics and computer business before starting my own small training design company in 2004 and we are still in business as of yesterday -
I have been married since 1978 to Meg and we have a son who is 25 (Dave) and a 17 year old daughter (Tori). You might recall that I love music and still d...Expand for more
o - and since Meg is a piano player and singer our living room looks a lot more like Mr. Morrison's band room than a Martha Stewart ensemble... I still play the sax almost everyday and hook up with jazz bands and combos when I can.
The kids are like night and day and I am their dad. Dave is calm, altruistic - went to MIT dropped out and is now on his way to teach school at a mission school in Bolivia with his fiance. Tori is a blaze of creativity unfocused and spoiled rotten... but she has some extreme insights into how people work... both kids love music which is required at birth at our house :o)
We live in the Wash DC area and try to travel away when we can - next big trip is to Ireland next year for our 30th anniversary - should be lots of music and lots of spirits!
I have been lucky enough to keep track of some people over the years and was fortunate to run in to Linda Fredrick and Bruce Tarsia for a few lunch and dinner gatherings. I usually am not a big "chat room" type but I really do want to reconnect with as many of my classmates and friends from that crazy old high school!
