Martina's Story

Life After leaving Jax. when I married in 1964, I lived in Houston (Conroe) for the next 19 yrs. While in Conroe, I started a stained glass business which I sold when I moved to Baton Rouge. Divorces are painful, but starting over enriched my life. I went back to college and started working on an art degree from LSU. I completed my third year there before my husband, Roland (whom I married in 1988) moved us to Charleston, WV. During our first year here, I went to college full-time and completed my art degree. In 1993, I opened my second stained glass studio. Sold my second studio in 2005.. ...Expand for more
My husband retired not long after. Looks like our children have settled into their "lifetime" homes. One in Bandera, Tx. (just outside of San Antonio), one in Leesville, La. and the other in Charleston, WV. We want to make plans for a trip west in the spring. Geneology takes us to S. Dakota and Iowa. Memorial Day weekend was memorial for us. I met a cousin in Iowa. Glenn and wife Marva. They are my Scandinavian connection. We hit it off and are now planning a cruise down the Rhine in June. It will be perfect timing to celebrate my 1 yr. anniversary after By-pass surgery. Life is good.

I finally felt like picking these cherry tomatoes off their vines this evening! Good salad tomorrow for lunch.
I just had to pull this photo out from several years ago. May our winter end with one more beautiful snow.
The most pleasantly fragrant flower I’ve come across. It is called a Margarita flower. Does anyone know where I could find one - besides Ecuador?
A fun boat load of color winds up the garden exhibition.
