Jeff's Story
School
School was school...you know. I really wish I hadn't had to move but it is what it is and you do what you're told (at least as a kid). Hancock County was great as a place to grow up in. Tight community, tight school. Mason County was a challenge given that I left all my friends behind for just that last year but I survived just like anybody else would. I even managed to make new friends (imagine that). The hardest part about moving wasn't the move or the loss of friends but was really about the loss of people you really cared about. Sometimes that can be regained and other times not. By the time I got to college, I was over the whole moving idea and simply became an angry young man. Good thing we learn from our ways huh? I did attend a 25 yr reunion with my Mason County classmates and it was great to see the faces and names one more time and do some catching up. You guys were great and thank you for accepting me into your community even if it was for only a year. I really wish my Hancock Country classmates would put together a reunion. I would love to catch up and visit.
College
I attended a small technical college in Charleston SC studying Electronic Engineering. It wasn't the greatest of times for a few reasons...1) I had a calculus class at 8 am every day of the week! 2) I had left behind friends and a high school love and being 12 hours drive time away didn't make matters any better. 3) I took 18 hours (that's 15 class hours and 3 lab hours) plus worked full time! Can you say Stupid and Dead all in the same sentence? I made some good friends while in college but I've lost track of them and I hate that! If anybody from Trident reads this...give me a shout especially if you know where...Expand for more

Workplace
Since leaving college, I have worked for some really good companies: Radio Shack (Manangement), Bugle Boy (Regional Manager), Guess? Jeans (Regional Management), John Y. Brown Enterprises (that's right...Gov. John Y. Brown Jr. and Phyllis George Brown), Fosroc, Inc. (Manangement and now is a part of a larger building suppy company) but I have been with Johnson Controls as a Transition and Program Mananger since 1997. JCI is a great company to work for and I've enjoyed my time here. I've made some really good acquaintances as well as learned a lot during my tenure here and look forward to retiring from the company in a few short years. I don't know how long I'll keep my Gold status on this thing so I'll probably lose the email ability. If anybody wants to, email me at jeffory. s1. morris at jci. com. (obviously take out the unnecessary spaces). I look forward to hearing from any of my classmates or work associates.
LIfe
Life has had it's ups and downs. The most notable events were surviving cancer at 22 years old. I was a Stage IIIb Testicular Cancer patient and survived. The cancer had spread to both lungs and I was given 4 months to live. In March 2009, I survived a heart attack caused by a runaway blood clot that we now know was caused by the chemo from 1983. I've survived 3 car wrecks that should've killed me. 2014 was a bad year for family....I lost my Grandmother on New Year's Day, my Dad passed on June 12, his youngest brother passed in August and my 50 year old cousin was murdered in September. I'm actually glad that year is over!
Anyway, I hope all of my classmates, whether from Hancock County, Mason County or Trident Tech are doing well and prosperous.
