Sharleen's Story

I've been asked to tell a story about me.. umm. I graduated Lakes High 1970. I was born in Hawaii but my dad was military so spent 9 years from elementary to high school in Tacoma traveling going school in Colorado Ft. Carson, Monterey, Ft. Ord, and Hawaii in between Tacoma. You may not know me well in high school for my senior year I only needed 1 class to graduate, English, & study hall.. The rest of the day I had a hula studio so was teaching hula and dancing in shows. A year after I graduated, I married my high school boyfriend from Hawaii and had 5 kids.. We divorced in '83 where I became a single parent.. I found it difficult raising them in Hawaii with a lot of hostility from my ex so transferred job with Safeway to Bay area. I commuted from Sacramento to Oakland for 4 years then finally moved and raised my kids in Albany, Calif. Was in a relationship 10 plus years from '85 to '95. After dated and focus on work and family. In 2004 moved back to Hawaii.. At present a son and a granddaughter continues to live Bay area. A daughter lives Kona where I actually subside, and I have 3 sons, 3 daughter in laws, 3 grandson and 2 granddaughter in Honolulu where I really spend most of my time at.. I'm in remission from Her2Neu breast cancer that I had in 2007.. I haven't worked since... I spend my time enjoying life and ...Expand for more
my grand kids. I spend more quality time with them then I did with their parents since I was busy working. From '92 to 2002 worked 2 full time jobs, pharmacy technician at 1 job and Dept manager/ cashier at Safeway.. My biggest fulfillment in life was Hula, and my children/ grandchildren..Also through Gods grace l learned to survive and blessed with jobs hand in hand that I really enjoyed learning and growing within. Although divorced and choose not to remarry, I have no regrets choosing to raise my own kids. I didn't think I would get divorce, but I feel My kids was my precious gift and worth it.. I hope someday I can travel around the world just enjoying the balance of my life hopefully with someone I can grow old with. God is good, blessed me with great friends, children, grandchildren, and family.. In the past year I rekindled 2 BFF from 6th grade, Gus Kuewa, and high school/ bridesmaid Elizabeth Duponte. I still have friends from jobs that I'm still in touch with between text, e-mail, FB, classmates.com, I still keep in touch..I know my life hasn't been easy, there's been a lot of winding roads, falls, hurts, bruises.. But I've learned to see the brighter side of life. I'm still not totally healthy, but on the road to recovery.. God blessed me with good friends, family, great children what more can I ask for..
