Scott's Story
After Graduation, did about a year at UTEP and decided didn't want to study anymore. so got a job and was enjoying making money for a while. then lost said job and draft number was coming up so joined the Army with high hopes of being an Air Traffic Controller. (Whatever that was) Figured would eventually end up in Vietnam. Took my Basic Training at Fort Polk, LA (affectionately known as Fort Puke, Lousyanna) Did my advanced Training at Fort Rucker, AL (affectionately know as Mother Rucker. This is not Derogatory. The place finally grows on you) Then to my great surprise, ended up in Korea instead of vietnam. Manage two years there inorder to finagle my way out of the army. and in fact did get out in 1973. Also brought back a souvenir from Korea by the name of Hae-Ok. we were married in May 73. worked at a Minute Market in El Paso for $1.70 per hour. then got GS2 (Clerk typist) at William Beaumont AMC. Was okay for a while, but was dissatisfied and reenlisted in the Army in Nov 73. Finagled my way to work at control Tower at Biggs Army airfield and worked there 3 years. after that Managed Two more tours to Korea and one trip to Germay. worked my way back to El Paso for another stint 78-81.
I have Three Children. Sonya, Michele and Troy. Hae-Ok and I divorced in 1981 and I had custody of the kids in Germany. They still talk about that time. We did a lot and saw a lot together.
Ended up (after 13 years) back at Ft. Rucker, AL and taught at the ATC School. so did a big Circle. started there and ended up there. I ret...Expand for more
ired there in 1993, drove a school bus for a while and opened a Trophy shop. just in time to get hired as a civilian at the ATC School. Have been there almost 17 years now. retirement is real close.
Got married to my Second Wife, Janice in 1986. She had 4 children and My three made in 7. We had our problems, but did make it through. All kids did survive and all have there own families now. Of the 7, Two are currently in the Military. One an Aviation Major, and the other an Aviation Maintenance Warrant Officer. The rest have either been in or are married to soldiers. except one who said he would go no where near the Army. Said something about having to wear a Uniform. So, what does he do after he Graduates from ALABAMA with a Criminal Justice Degree? He goes to Kentucky and becomes a cop, in a uniform. LOL All them kids make lots of Grandbabies. 21 to be exact. oldest one now 18 and youngest 7 months. love them all, but realize that I am getting old.
Lost Janice in February of 2011. Been a long process, but I am back climbing up the ladder now and not sliding down. The seven kids have been great. I talk to one or more of them everyday. They are making sure this old fart is still on the straight and narrow.
Looking forward to retirement. being a history Buff, I am going to see a little bit of that history. have already watched a few reenactments of Civil War Battles and visited several battlefields, and historical sites.
Am living in Daleville, AL with a Pug named Suki Su. I call her "Dipshit". she responds to both.
