Murphy's Story
I have been married to the same beautiful bride since 1982. She has given me 2 wonderful, beautiful children. Our daughter was born in 1982, and our son was born in 1984. Unfortunately in 2004, we lost Our son at age 19, in an accident while he was away at college 😢
In 2007, my daughter gave us a beautiful grandson (Huntley), that is now the focal point of our life. Things have a way of working out. So instead of dwelling on my sons passing, I decided to focus on my grandson and his living.
After retirement from the military, I worked with the New Orleans Saints in the Sales and Marketing Department until Hurricane Katrina destroyed our home in August 2005. I then worked for the New England Patriots in the teams security department. Super Bowl XLII did not turn out the way we had hoped, but the entire Super Bowl experience was awesome. I have decided to forego the pro football administration career and focus on my new career in civil service job (40 hours per week :) and another pension) so I can focus on what is truly important in this life...my family. sently work for the VA and have pleasure in dealing with the older and returning veterans. They have sacrifficed so much and since I was fortunate to spend 22 years on active duty in the military during no major conflicts, it allows me a way to give something back to those who have lost so much.
Retired in 2001 with 22 years of military service. Retired as a Master Chief. My military career began in 1980 at the Recruit Training Command in San Diego, Ca. The assigned in 1980 to the USS Sierra (AD-18). Then assigned in 1982 to the USS Independence (CV-62). Then assigned in 1984 to the USS Sierra (AD-18). Finally assigned to a shore based unit in 1986 at the Naval Station Charleston, SC. From here I departed the Navy on a Monday and signed up for duty in the U.S. Coast Guard the very next day. My first assignment was in 1988 to the Ship Repair Detachment in Boston, MA. Then assigned in 1992 to the USCGC Papaw (WLB-308). My final tour of military duty was in 1996 to the US Coast Guard Integrated Support Command in New Orleans, LA. I then retired in January 2001.
