Myrna's Story
The picture of me above was taken at the class of '52 reunion in 2007. The person with me is my daughter, Carol, my youngest child and only daughter. I also have three sons: Ken, who lives in Boca Raton and teaches high school, Ron, who lives in Fort Lauderdale and is a massage therapist, and Don who lives in a San Francisco suburb and is a financial analyst. Don is married to Caren, a paralegal. I currently have no grandchildren. The other boys have never married, nor has Carol. I was married to Richard A. (Dick) Swart, who graduated from U of M in 1952 with a JD, for a little over 50 years when he died in 2006 after battling cancer for 11 years. oved to southern California in 1958 and lived there until 2002 when we returned to south Florida. Carol was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease called Wegener's granulomatosis in 1978 when she was 16. I just published a book about her 29-year struggle with the disease. It's called: There Must Be A Reason and it's available only online or through me at this time. I helped establish an organization now known as the Vasculitis Foundation and spend a lot of my current time doing volunteer work for them. At the MHS reunion I reconnected with a few old friends who keep in touch with me. I currently live in Boynton Beach, FL. I welcome emails from old friends and anyone else interested in writing.
