Since graduating from OHS, I managed to graduate from UC Berkeley in 1974 with a B.S. degree in civil/environmental engineering. I worked for 42 years as a consulting engineer in the commercial nuclear power industry (yes, even through the Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, and Fukushima nuclear catastrophes). I was fortunate enough to meet “The Love of My Life” (Candice Chiang) on Thanksgiving Day 1978. We got married in June 1982. For the past 41 years, I have been living a charmed existence in San Jose with Candice, where we raised two sons that we are extremely proud of. Thomas (36), our youngest, graduated from UC Irvine in 2009 with a degree in Criminology, Law and Society. After college, he spent two years working for an energy conservation company. In 2011, he enlisted in the Air Force and spent six years assigned to various overseas air force bases located in Italy (Aviano), Turkey (Incirlik), and England (Mildenhall). He retired from the Air Force in 2018 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Thomas became a San Jose Police Officer in 2020, but quickly discovered it was the wrong career choice. He now works as a forensic analyst at the San Jose Police Department, which is a career in law enforcement that he is more passionate about.
