Lyn's Story

Life I am currently living in South Weber, Utah. I have seven beautiful children, three boys, 22, 19 and 12 and four girls 16, 14 13 and 9. They are the best part of my life! We currently have 2 rabbits, 10 laying hens, 1 rooster, a chinchilla, a veiled chameleon, a gecko, a parakeet, a beta fish and a barn cat. I am loving life! I am a Certified Reflexologist, and do reflexology. If you do not know what that is, ask me.... I am also a professional face painter, I do awesome and amazing work! I live on a mini farm (less than 10 acres) that is gorgeous. I am a Master Gardener and LOVE to garden. My pumpkin patch has provided me(and still is providing) abundant harvest to decorate with and to fix my world famous (ok... maybe not world famous... but close!) Homemade Pumpkin Bread. In the past 3 years since I moved in, I have transformed this yard into a tranquil park-like paradise, picture perfect for wedding receptions.... none of my kids are married yet, but someday they might want their reception here. I did have one of my best friends receptions here in September 2007. It was gorgeous! I still have a LOT to do to make it the way I want it...I would love to add an nice pondless waterfall cascading down a hillside this next year, and add brick steps with lights in the steps, to a slope that the grass has worn away from all the foot traffic. I would also like to have a gazebo, and an arbor/pergola built out by the pool for the grapes and shade while watching the kids play in the pool. It will take years to get the yard the way I want it, the way I envision it, but I will have fun doing making it my little "Garden of Eden". Here is a fun fact....My 15 minutes of fame....I was in an MTV video in 1984, you can look it up online on "you tube" under "She's a Timebomb" by a band called X-ing. What a blast to the past that is! LOL I would love to hear from any of my old classmates! I have so many wonderful memories of SOO many of those that I went to school with... from Kindergarten at Dove Day school on up through High School and College. For those who knew my sister, Nanci. She died on 4 May 2000, while on vacation with her 3 young children. Amanda has just turned 16, Terry is 14 and Chandler is now 11. I am putting together a memory book for them, about what their Mom was like when she was young. If anyone would like to contribute a story or two about her, could be funny or serious, please contact me. I loved HS, my years at EHS were happy ones, I was involved in so many clubs and other things, (just like now! LOL) thanks for sharing all those wonderful moments with me! My profile shows up on my parents sites too, if you know MARION SIMMONS from Verdugo Hills HS class of '59 or Clarence (Gene) Alspaugh, El Monte Union HS class of a '48, feel free to email them through me. I will pass along the email. They sold the house in West Covina, and now live in Summerlin, Nevada, a suburb of Las Vegas! They both have been having health challanges lately, so I have been burning up the I-15 between here and Vegas often. It was a lot easier to hop in the car when I lived in St. George, Utah for several years. I collect cars.... I have 2 Mustangs... one is a 65 and the other is a 89. I have had 5 Mustangs since Graduation! I also have a rare '67 SAAB Sonnet... there were only 300 made and less than 2 dozen are known to exist today. I have a little German station wagon called a Lloyd, that is pink and white and looks like a tiny clown car.... My 9 year old daughter is just the right size to drive it! LOL I am too tall! I am the typical Mom... running the kids to various practices, recitals, games, PTA, the whole taxi Mom thing.... All the kids in the neighborhood love to congregate at my house and I love it! Maybe cause we have a pool, maybe cause I have just have kewl kids, or, maybe cause my kids have a kewl mom, maybe all of the above. I would much rather have them here and having good, clean, wholesome fun, (and I can keep an eye on them)than to have them off who knows where doing who knows what. I am not into letting them play video games all day long, but lately they have been having fun doing Guitar Hero and Rock Band. My oldest son is into real Classic rock.... Zepplin, Rush, Styx, Van Halen, Journey... All the good stuff we grew up on. While most parents are telling their kids to "turn that music down!" I tell him to turn it up! LOL My 13 year old is the one who listens to weird stuff.... I had to permantly take away her Ipod the other day as a severe punishment After telling her a hundred times to turn the volume down or she would go deaf with the earplugs stuck in her ears and I am across the room or in the front of the van and she is way in the back and I can still hear it... anyone else have kids like this???.... you would have thought I killed her when I took it away! She is OK and over it now. So now I get to figure out what to do with this Ipod.... Do I take off all her weird stuff and put my own good stuff... the classic rock I grew up with, and now I like counrty too. But....my favorite music is from the 40's and 50's... called the Standards! The kind of music our parents and grandparen...Expand for more
ts listened to! LOL I have really great kids... My 13 year old is my only challanging child (But at least she will not go deaf... no Ipod) and she is still OK.... I feel extremely blessed that ALL my kids get along together and love to hang out with each other. They are all each others best friend! So far they all love me and think I am really wonderful too.... so I guess I must be doing something right. :-) In the Summer, my pool is the hot spot for every kid in the town! It is not uncommon to have one or two dozen kids in the pool on any given day... except Sundays. I have to top off the pool each night cause they splash a good portion of the water out all over the deck and patio. But they think I am mean though, cause I won't let them get in the hot tub! LOL Three of my kids work at an amusement park near our house called Lagoon. They have worked there for several season's now. My 19 year old is getting ready to go out into the world some place (we do not know where yet) for two years, serving a mission for our Church. I am anxious to know where he is going to go. He wants to go to Japan or Korea cause he likes the food. LOL I realized after posting pics that I have posted a lot of my kids.... they are the light of my life. I have more pics I can add... I want to scan some from High School, I noticed in looking at everyone's profile that only two people have posted what they looked like in High School, come on everyone... show off that weird hair style, the strange clothes that make your kids laugh.... It just might come back in style some day... I took my kids shopping and I swear, my daughter picked up a pair of macrame shoes that were EXACTLY like the ones I wore in 8th grade, some of the clothing styles are like stuff that are from the late 70's . Wonder if Ditto's will ever be all the rage again???? Anyone from Hollencrest remember my white dittos with the rainbow stitching over the butt and down the legs??? I do... loved those pants! I loved my blue satin outfit I would wear to dances in 7th grade at the rec center next to Cameron Jr. HS... and how the last song of the night was always "Stairway To Heaven". My niece, Amanda, Nanci's daughter, is REALLY into the styles we wore in Jr HS and HS! So I guess it is coming back into style. she is SOOO much like her Mom, tall, thin, beautiful and into clothes! LOL.... I might post some pics from grade school too... A few years ago I came across a few class pics from Merlinda.... Want to talk about a fashion! I had NO fashion sense then.... at all... but by today's standards (so my kids say) neither did anyone else in the pics! LOL I will scan them some time in the future (when I find them again) and post them, so everyone can have a bit of a blast to the past. Check back later to see if YOU are in any of the old pics! Ya never know..... remember.... I was Photo Editor of the Iliad! I just might have a few kewl pics up my sleeve! :-) Feel free to send me an email, I would love to hear from any and all of you! Have an awesome day everyone! :-) PS.... I sent emails to a lot of my former Kindergarteners.... I would love to hear from you.
