Nancy's Story
I live in the Rio Grande Valley in a small town near Brownsville. My husband and I moved here in 1980, when he finished Vet School. I married my high school sweetheart and am still married after 32 years ( no one more surprised than me and my mother in law). When I was sprung lose from A&M Consolidated I studied commercial art at Sam Houston State and worked as a grade III artist for Texas A&M while Skip was in Vet school. Once we moved to the Rio Grande Valley, I went back to school and became a registered nurse. My sister Mary as well as my mother followed suit and now all 3 of us are registered nurses. Mary still works at St. Joe's in Bryan and my mother is retired. I work as an office manager/charge nurse for my husband. We bought our own Vet Clinic in 1991 and enlarged it to what it is today. nd we have enriched Texas A&M greatly with our two parasites attending school there. If you have kids in college you know why I joke about them being parasites!!
Our oldest daughter Allison is in Vet School and has one year left. Our son Joshua is graduating this May and will be applying to Vet School as well as Med schools. Josh has always been more focused on being an orthopedic surgeon but now sees the problems in the health care industry, and it just might be socialized medicine when he would clear his internship/residency program. His path is questionable right now.
In my spare time I volunteer with my chocolate lab named Sport. He is a certified pet therapy dog and we make visits to the hospitals, Rehab units as well as nursing homes. I love to eat, travel and read as well. Oh yah , I like to go to the gym to stay in shape (so that I can eat more). !!
