Nancy's Story
Since graduation I have lived in Missouri, Minnesota, Colorado, Arizona and now San Diego. I have been a nurse, a bartender, retail sales, a wife and stay at home Mom. I have gone miles on the back of a Harley. I returned to college after 28 years and became certified in drug and alcohol counseling. I facilitate panels in hospitals and institutions for clients in residential treatment for substance abuse and addiction. For the last 8 yrs. I have been fortunate enough to work at what I love every single day. I restore antique furniture for retail and wholesale. THAT JOB ENDED AND i AM ON THE HUNT! I have pretty much done every single thing my parents told me not to do at one point or another. lol
I have a 27 yr. old son that is a Marine. He recently returned from a 3 yr. assignment in Okinawa and is stationed at 29 Palms. I have a grandson that is 5 yrs. old and the love of my life. I also have a 24 yr. old son that is off doing his own learning. My 20yr. old daughter had decided she could make it on her own but guess what? She keeps coming back. On 12/25/12 She gave birth to my second Grandson.
In 1996 I had a brain aneurysm and 3 ...Expand for more
strokes. That seemed to be an indication that I needed to slow down and that I did. A life changing event like that certainly overhauled my priorities and put all the little ducks in the proper order. That is good for the most part. I just call things like I see them now. Maybe a little too direct but I find it saves verbiage BS. That way there are fewer misunderstandings. lol And less explaining.
I lost my Mom a couple of yrs. ago. She the strongest woman I have ever known. Although we had been separated by miles she was always on the other end of the phone listening and loving me unconditionally. My Dad passed in '97. The values the both of them instilled in my brother and myself are correct and go deep. Thank you Mom and Dad.
My brother and his whole family but one live in Cedar Rapids to this day. My nephews go to Regis, It being a middle school now. Larry is doing very well for himself. We are all still coping with the loss of our parents but they brought us up well. What doesn't kill ya will make you stronger!
I HAVE A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF LIVING UNDER MY BELT!!!. More than most. I am working diligently on an EPIC ending!!!!!
