Nancy's Story
Hmmm, let's see. Sometimes I feel a bit in-between since I graduated in '73 but my class was '74. After graduating from Rayburn I attended San Jac for a year and then transferred to A&M and graduated with a B.S. in Psychology in '76. My brother, Britt (also class of '73), whom probably more of you know than me, went to SHSU first and then finished up at A&M as well (there's a whole slew of Ags in our family).
I got married in May of '75. I taught high school science and psychology courses for several years, got my M.S. in counseling and did some h.s. counseling for a few years.
Our son, Ian, was born in 1983. He is my hero as he has been to Iraq three times (is a Sgt. in the Marines). He has a whole chestful of medals but will never be worth the price he paid for it in terms of injuries and PTSD.
We moved to Mexico for a year and then on to Costa Rica, which is where our daughter, Audrey, was born in 1985. My husband was an attache with the embassy there and I developed and ran the mental health program for the State Department. Audrey is a gifted artist and became engaged this New Year's (2009).
In 1991, we returned to the States and I got my Ph.D. in counseling psychology at U.T. Austin (very bizarre at Thanksgiving when my two alma maters play).

97 where John was again with the embassy. I worked for the Dept. of Defense this time. Very interesting to be there during the process of turning over the canal back to Panama.
We loved our years in Central America and if you get a chance to go, the scuba and snorkeling and exploring ruins and volcanoes and all that is really incredible.
We returned to the States again in 1999 and wound up in College Station, where I'm an adjunct professor in Psychology but primarily work as a licensed psychologist in the Student Counseling Service at A&M. I love my work, which includes individual and group counseling, outreach, crisis intervention, and supervision of interns.
We've had an odd assortment of pets over the years but currently we have two retired greyhounds who are awesome. I remember thinking they would be big Jack Russells and super energetic or something, but basically they are good rug holders and so easy going and laid-back. We also have three cats from the different countries in which we've lived.
I have fond memories of Sam Rayburn but was a bit of a mouse and spent most of my time mooning over my boyfriend at the time. My best friends from elementary school (Angela Nichols and Susan Stiles) I still keep in touch with.
Would love to hear from those who may remember me.
