Nancy's Story
Hi - I can't believe it has been 20 years since we graduated GHS!!!!! Here is just a little about me since graducation in 1988.
I graduated from UT Martin with a degree in Communications. I then did 2 internships - one at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company and then waited tables after graduation at Rafferty's restaurant (in Jackson, TN) then did another internship at Gaylord Entertainment Company. I finally got a job in Bowling Green, KY as an administrative assistant with Rafferty's Restuarants Group (which I still think is tops in the industry). I then landed a job back in Jackson, TN with Randstad Staffing which after a year sent me to Atlanta, GA to staff the 1996 Olympic games and start a new division in hospitality for them. After the games, they sent me to Memphis, TN on a market development team. I later left Randstad to move to Nashville, TN and start with a new company division in software training for Rand Worldwide (engineering software firm) where I opened the office and then a few other ones in Indianapolis and Cincinnati. I did also sell the software then went into menegement with them. I decided after four years it was time for a new...Expand for more
challenge and decided to leave to work for Abbott Laboratories. I started with Abbott in a new division for them, Animal Health where we sold and trained human anesthesia products into the veterinarian industry in four states. It was really neat to be a part of a small division with such a big company. I soon met my husband-to-be, Phil. We got married in 2003 and I moved to Georgetown, KY (outside Lexington, KY - LOVED IT) and had a son, Connor in 2005. After having Connor, I decided to leave Abbott Animal Health and focus on being a mother.
That brings us to now, I am currently 9 months (yes 9-MONTHS) pregnant with our second son. We moved two weeks ago from Georgetown to Auburn, Alabama - it's so hot here. Phil has a great opportunity to be in business for himself so we decided to make a go of it.
I hope to see each of you at the reunion! I hope to rekindle some old friendships and make some new ones, 20 years is much too long of a wait. We can celebrates the lives we have made for ourselves and remember the people we once were and knowing that our oldest friends know us the best, have seen us at our worst and hold a firm place in our hearts.
