Nancy (Durr)'s Story
I have lived a wonderful life. I have been married to Tom for over 36 years (Feb 14th), have a fantastic daughter, Tara and son-in-law, Matt. We are grandparents of Elliott - 10 and Annabelle - 7! They are the best. I have now have been retired for 21years. The days have turned from months into years and I am trying to enjoy each and every one of those days.
I manage to keep myself busy doing many different things: reading, sewing (quilting), gardening, hosting a young man each summer as they play baseball in the NECBL. I also get to enjoy watching my nephews' children interact with my sister, Peg, as she is enjoying being a Grandmother. My husband, Tom and were season tickets holders for 18 to for UCONN Women's basketball team. Go Huskies!!!
We have been meeting monthly with other classmates for lunch since the 40th reunion. We have 20 or more at each get together. Not all from our class, some from 1963, 1965, etc. We always have a great time and we always get talking about memories from our high school days. The sock hops at school, Friday night dances at the Groton T...Expand for more
eenage Club, the block dances at Eastern Point Firehouse on Friday nights in the summer, gathering at Friendly's after a football game, and hanging out at Eastern Point Beach all summer. What memories!!!!
I have found as I have gotten older that I certainly do enjoy life and what it has to offer me so much more. I try to take the time to smell the flowers that are around me, take a walk in the fall when the leaves have created their beautiful painting, listen to the waves crashing onto the shore, watch the beauty of snow as it gently falls to the ground, feel the heat of the summer sun on my body as I sit in my beach chair and watch my grandchidren enjoy Eastern Point beach and I try to find one wonderful thing about each and every day that I am here as I take my daily walks.
For those of you that were unable to attend our 55th reunion, hopefully, you will be at the next one - the Big 60. We always have a fabulous time!
If any of you have information that you want forwarded on to the rest of the class, please let me know and I will get the word out. Hope you are all doing well.
