Nancy's Story
Life
Occupation: I've been making my living by doing bookkeeping/accounting since the early 1970s, mostly for nonprofit human service organizations. Since 1998, I've been working at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and am currently the Financial Operations Officer for the Social Sciences Division at UCSC.
Education: A mere 4 years following my graduation with honors from Soquel High, I had the dubious distinction of being thrown off campus as an undesirable influence. I attended college until it no longer seemed relevant, then went back 25 years later and completed my bachelor's degree in Applied Economics at the University of San Francisco.

earned to sew, build a rabbit hutch, use a computer, and have given away every TV and blender that has come into my possession. In the summer of 2005, I installed (okay, actually I paid someone else to install) solar shingles on the south-facing slope of my roof.
Travel: Ive lived in the same house long enough to plant apple trees and see them bear more than 30 seasons of fruit. Ive traveled for pleasure to British Columbia, New Orleans, Chicago, Miami Beach, Peru, England and Scotland, and various parts of the USA including Nothing, Arizona; Paris, Texas; Tinkertown, New Mexico; Paradise, California; Pettisville, Ohio and other out-of-the-way spots; once drove with friends from Aptos to Wyoming to have lunch, and have made several cross-country driving trips.
